THE RECORD OF THE WEEK:
REMASTERED ALBUM SAMPLER
KOREA PROMO CD
EPIC/SONY CPRK-101

Here it is:another masterpiece the Showroom is proud to show today:this is a mega-rare promo cd "album sampler", korean only released in 2001, and it contains a selection of songs taken from "Off the wall", "Thriller", "Bad" and "Dangerous". A similar compilation, previously released for the Dangerous tour in 1992 ("Dangerous Tour souvenir cd") but with different tracks; The total here is of 15 songs, and "Thriller" and "Bad" are the album with more tracks (5 and 4 respectively).
This is truly a masterpiece for every Michael Jackson collector, this cd rarely surfaced on auction sites, and I guess an handful of copies have been released...

P.S. although the mispress on back ("mafactured" instead of "manifactured"), I guarantee this is a 100% original release from Sony.Matrix codes on cd are: IFPILA71 - PROM-101)

"...Ah get on the floor and dance
Ah, on the floor and dance
So get on the floor
And dance with me
I love the way you shake your thing
Especially
There's a chance for dancin'
All night long
There's a chance for groovin'
And it will be soothing
With a song
Then why don't you just
Dance across the floor
'Cause there's a chance for chances
And the chance is choosin'
And I sure would like just to groove with you..."

THE RECORD OF THE WEEK &
THE SHOWROOM'S
BLAST FROM THE PAST:
GONE TOO SOON AUSTRALIA PROMO
EPIC/SONY 659986 1

Released worldwide on December 1st (excluding the U.S. market, where only promotional copies have been distributed) in conjuction with the World AIDS day, the 9th and last single taken from the "Dangerous" should have been released in Australia with a variant of the well-known Ryan White picture sleeve. After the child molestation allegations, Sony Australia decided to release the single with a different cover (a detail of the 'Dangerous' album artwork - the mask with MJ eyes), a choice taken because they probably thought that a cover picturing MJ with a child could be too controversial (!).
A small quantity of promotional copies have been distributed to radio stations with the original "Ryan White" artwork sleeve.

THE RECORDS OF THE WEEK:
OFF THE WALL SPANISH CD ALBUMS
- OFF THE WALL SPAIN "ALTAYA" ROCK NR.11
EPIC/ALTAYA 11
- OFF THE WALL SPAIN "AGOSTINI" EDITION
EPIC RCD005 2

Today we focus on 2 special editions of "Off the wall", both released in Spain; the "Agostini" edition came put in 1991, and even though it looks similar to the classic european releases, it has a totally different catalogue reference (RCD005 2). The "Altaya" edition was released later in 1996. Altaya Publishers licensed the album to EPIC/SONY for a limited edition collection of classic albums. This tiem the back cover is completely different from the original; today both releases are hard-to-find, with the "Altaya" edition raising high commercial value among collectors.

Today's WELCOME TO THE SHOWROOM:
"MOTOWN IN ITALY PART II"
JACKSON 5 "SERIE COLLEGE" LP
ITALY TAMLA MOTOWN/RI-FI RECORDS
RLC-ST-05017

Lately, I was clearly "italian-inspired" with my Showroom purchases. And here you can see a first example of the hunt I made in my country. This is an italian-only collection released in 1975 - part of a series named "Serie College" (featuring some other releases by several artists) - officially licensed by Motown and distributed by Ri-Fi records (Milan). The record contains 10 tracks randomly chosen fron the Jackson 5 hits-catalogue, and comes with a picture of the Jackson 5 singing and dancing already used for the "Get it together" album picture sleeve, obviously, here with a total different graphic style. Take a look at the particular multi-colour rounded label...you'll see it again in many earlier italian presses.

THE RECORD OF THE WEEK:
"MOTOWN IN ITALY PART I"
MUSIC AND ME ITALY LP
TAMLA MOTOWN/RI-FI RECORDS
TSM ST 60039

Fine. The italian saga continues with...the third Michael's album as a soloist.
"Music and me" was released in 1973, and today I'm proud to add to the Showroom catalogue this wonderful italian-pressed record:again, officially licensed by Tamla Motown and distributed by RI-FI Records, and again with a multicoloured-style labels.
You may think that as I'm from Italy, these releases should be easy to find in fairs or used records markets. They're not. I mean:if I could find some of them in the past, I would buy. Sometimes the prices are too high...but sometimes, I can clearly say it, it's very difficult even to find one.
During all these years, it could be the 3rd or the 4th time I see a Music and me made in Italy like this. I can guarantee, these are very few times for an italian collector, who lives in Italy, and collecting Michael since 1992.
The "Motown in Italy" saga continues....watch out next posts here and on the facebook page!
