You know, Japan is ALWAYS a country full of surprise-records, and what you can see in the picture is one of this exclusive gems! Following the idea of the "12-inch mixes" cds released worldwide (you know the MJ cds, but in that series you can find also a cd dedicated to Cindy Lauper, Wham! and a few others artists from Epic), Sony Japan released this "BEST REMIXES" from the Jacksons. 

 

 

Too bad that something went wrong, with the tracklist choice and with the chosen mixes. The cd starts in the best way, with the extended remixes of "Shake your body" and "Blame it on the boogie" (at the time, very rare to find on digital formats) then...almost nothing. Why? With the exception of "Lovely one", which is indeed an "Extended version", the other 4 tracks are taken from 12'' singles but have just a few differences between the remixes and the original versions. So "Can you feel it", "Heartbreak hotel" and "Torture" sounds too similar to the album versions. "Walk right now" with its great extended version is missing, as well as the amazing "State of shock" with extra vocals, released only on 12''. Then "Torture", the magnificent long version still remains unreleased today:the version you'll find on this cd is the 4'30" "single mix". So the chance to put the hands on some rare mixes vanished badly.

 

 

"The Best Remixes" remains one of the most interesting releases EVER in the Jacksons discography, and is still until today an exclusive japanese release without a reissue.

Oh, this is soooo nice! The Jackson 5 reissue campaign continues with this wonderful re-release of the "Greatest hits" in its rarer "quadraphonic mix", originally launched only in Japan.

It's time to hear these slightly different mixes of some J5 classic tunes for y'all!

This record was released in the classic black vinyl and in this limited edition clear vinyl (apparently available only in the U.S. market), and I can guarantee it sounds in an amazing way! Don't miss it!

P.S. Even though some collectors think that this reissue is connected with all the other french coloured vinyl reissues, this is not. It looks like a "standing-alone" american reissue, with different catalogue number and no obi.

Nice package in the mail today! The box content was a rare "Blood on the dancefloor" cd single released in Taiwan. Indeed this is an american copy of the cd, with some taiwanese stickers on front & back, with the rounded one on the front of the case showing Michael in Taiwan in what is probably an advert of the "Blood on the dancefloor" album.

This is one of the first official cd singles released in Taiwan, but made in USA. As far as I can remember, maybe only a few singles from HIStory got the same treatment before.

Albums on cd have been always produced straightly in Taiwan, but for the singles they started to import the records from Usa (later, from Europe), adjusting then with some stickers for the Taiwanese market (later, with obies just like the japense ones). Inside the case, I also found a little card with all infos written in taiwanese language.

The EU "vinyl is beautiful" coloured vinyl reissues continue with 2 more HIStorical albums from the Jackson 5 catalogue:"Get it together" repressed in a transparent red vinyl, and "Live in Japan", originally released only in Japan (and a rare effort for MJ collectors, especially in its "quadraphonic" version, very rare), now available in an astonishing purple vinyl.

Considering their effordable price, these nice reissues worth the purchase. They should be also a good investment, because probably they'll become rare in the future.

It has been just released, so don't waste time:got to grab a copy to see some unreleased photos from the Christophe Boulmè archive. As you may know, Christophe is a french photographer and part of the team behind “Black&White Magazines” & “HIStory Magazines”.

He photographed Michael Jackson for many years and designed few single covers for the King of Pop, also went to London for a one off Exhibition “Making HIStory” in May 2013.

This book is a treasure to own, and be sure:I won't let it selaed just like you see in the pictures... ;-)

This week the Showroom celebrates "Invincible" with one of the rarest cd in the collection. This double cd version, released in India in late 2001, contains the regular album + a bonus video cd with some of the greatest videoclips of Michael; here it is the tracklist:

5-Blood on the dancefloor

The video cd contains also a special introduction to all videos by Channel V's VJ Purab (probably a well-known TV star in India). As you can see, this release has a totally different back cover, with several details regarding its country of production (the sites www.michaeljackson.co.in and http://invincible.indiatimes.com are mentioned too).

India released also a regular version with only the Invincible album but this version is unique and truly a collectors item.

Which treasure I can show you today? oh yes, here it is! Maybe it's not the rarest items to find, but...certainly, it's rare! This is a canadian only 1984 release, called "4 Play", and it's a 7'' format with 4 tracks, all taken from the "Thriller" album:"Billie Jean", "Beat it", "Human nature" & "Wanna be startin'somethin". The Showroom is proud to show you a sealed copy of this record, that makes even more rare!

Another flashback of the past posts returns here as one of the "Records of the week"; I'm talking about a treasure, released in 1983; this is the one and only official release of the "Billie Jean" Pepsi version used to promote the soda in the 80's. The 7'' vinyl is housed inside a promo booklet, named "Pepsi world" with several infos about the campaign and Michael.

The Showroom's latest arrivals included some memorabilia from "The one", the Cirque Du Soleil's Las Vegas show. These official "busts" are so nice to display on the shelves:one celebrates the "Beat it" live jacket outfit, the other one is iconic:the "dancing shoes", reminding the MJJ Productions logo. Both items were quite expensive but I think they worth the purchase!
