FORGOTTEN RELEASES
AROUND THE WORLD :
BILLIE JEAN MOZAMBIQUE 12''
TEAL DISCO/TRUTONE MUSIC XEN 5434 (GRC8111)

What you are going to see is a rare, rare, rare press of a "Billie Jean" 12'' maxi single, "FABRICADO POR COMPANHIA DE DISCOS DE MOCAMBIQUE,LDA".
I guess a few copies of this are still around. Trutone music is a South African record distribution and manufacturing company that had permission from Epic to distribute, along other records, a Michael Jackson record only for Mozambique.
They did it with Billie Jean. Probably someone can think this could not been a 100% official product but...please take a look at the catalogue number : XEN code is the same code you can find in several other 12'' releases from South Africa ("Thriller" single for example...or "Torture" & "State of shock" by the Jacksons...as well as some other 7''s). All from Epic/CBS!!!
This is more than likely the world's rarest 12'' pressing of Michael Jackson's hit "Billie Jean".
This wonderful copy, includes the original TRUTONE company sleeve (even harder to get a copy like this!) and the Showroom saw it only one time : when it was purchased!
Side A contains "Billie Jean part 1" (that is just an edited version of the album version), while side B "Billie Jean part II" (a.k.a. the instrumental version).

RECORD OF THE WEEK :
"MICHAEL JACKSON CD EXCLUSIVO PARA PROMOCION"
ARGENTINA PROMO EPIC/SONY 2-000172
TRACKLIST :
1 - No estas solo (you are not alone) 5'45''
2 - Extrano en Moscu (Stranger in Moscow) 5'44''
3 - Ellos no se preocupan por nosostros (They don't care about us) 4'42''

The Showroom goes back in Argentina today, and as a "Record of the week" is going to present a rare promo cd including 3 HIStory album hits : "You are not alone", "Stranger in Moscow" & "They don't care about us".
The cd comes in a thick cardsleeve with black lettering on it (a simple artwork used for another similar Argentina promo cd including "Scream - Grita"), and it was released by Sony Music Entertainment Argentina in 1995.
Obviously, it's not easy to find a cd like this in excellent conditions.
If you're looking for it, my suggestion is always the same : with some patience and a little bit of luck, "nothing is impossible"!

KARAOKE IN JAPAN :
INSTRUMENTAL VERSION COLLECTION
JAPAN CASSETTE SINGLE EPIC/SONY 15.6P-5158

Well, we all know this uncommon release.
This was, at the time, a great gift for any Michael Jackson fan. The "Instrumental version collection" cd, released only in Japan, is a special release which gave the possibility to hear 6 tracks(2 from "Thriller" and 4 taken from "Bad" )without MJ vocals. These original instrumental versions, were not previously unreleased,as you could easily find them on some 7'' or 12''s releases, but the amazing thing is that Sony Japan had the idea to release them all on one cd. First release of the cd was in 1988, planned to promote the "Bad Tour", with a white obi. Then it was reissued 10 years after, in the late 90's with a different yellow obi. In this post, you can see the mega rare cassette version, with a "Japan Tour '88" sticker on it!
