From the far Japan, The Showroom received today 2 cds regarding the Motown era:"I want you back" is a kind of "rare and unreleased" tracks selection, released in 2010, and this is the first japanese press. "The very best" is a classic anthology, released worlwide, and this is a late reissue among the "best of best" series collection. This is the 3rd japanese version of the cd now in the Showroom, as you can see from the pictures. The one with the blue obi is the very first press.

Here I am, once again, with some new items entering in the Showroom! I'm proud to show you a set of HIStory tour passes - complete in all its forms, but still NOT complete in their colours - including passes for the after show, for the local crew as well as the ones for the guests.

And then...the official UK song book releases for Thriller and Dangerous, all in mint conditions!

Oh, what a superb newcomer I have to show you today!!!!

Take a look at this BAD cd. If you see only the front cover (and the cd inside) looks like a normal austrian pressing. But...if you see the back cover...well, this is a super-rare club edition from Germany! With a total different catalogue number (stated also on the spine) and a really strange barcode number - recalling the club catalogue number.

Club editions are a kind of uncommon records; they look like a classic release, but they're not; "behind the mask" they hide a surprise; the best you can find is a different catalogue number printed on it (we've seen in the past 2 different "Thriller" copies on vinyl, with a regular dutch vinyl inside), or a "club-only" factory produced record (there's a Thriller cd released only in Japan like that, and you can find it on my blog, in the "Cd albums" section, here:

This BAD is clearly a "first-example" version, with regular cd but different references on sleeve/cover.

 

 

 

INCLUDING THE 2001 BAD "SPECIAL EDITION" AND THE BAD25TH RELEASE, THIS IS THE 85TH BAD CD IN THIS COLLECTION.

Not so BAD, I think. BUT...you know what:

the hunt continues!!!!

I received today a little package with a precious content:

the ABC cassette by the Jackson 5...released in Italy in 1982 by "Dischi Ricordi" and officially licensed by Motown, of course.

The cassette is a part of the "Orizzonte" collection, and it's in totally mint conditions - and it's incredible for its age - and came with the original orange case with "Dischi Ricordi" logo impressed on it.

This is a true must-have item for every collector, especially for the ones who love this type of format!

Even though I'm from Italy, I guarantee this cassette was an hard-to-find gem even for me...

FROM THE "ONE" SHOP IN LAS VEGAS

 

 

Not a vinyl, not a record, not a cd today. The ITEM of the week is a wonderful action figure, part of the official merchandise related to the "ONE" shows in Las Vegas by the Cirque Du Soleil. The figure is tall 15 cm, and it shows Michael in the iconic dancing pose on the video "Smooth Criminal". As you can see, the figure is now standing in the middle of one of the Showroom shelves, with the mini figure in the back making a wonderful "mirrored" effect when you're standing in front of the shelf.

In a future project of enlarging the Showroom, with more stands and displays, this figure will lead the floor dedicated to Smooth Criminal and Moonwalker, and I suggest its purchase to anyone who wants to do something strictly dedicated to this HIStorical - and immortal - video.

45th copy of the "King of Pop" cd series in the showroom arrived today! It's an acetate sampler cd from UK, including a selection of tracks from the commercial release.

I don't love these kind of promo acetates, but this was necessary to get a KOP collection even more complete.
