This was a last-minute discover, and I've never seen the movie Moonwalker translated in portuguese! So when I saw "O passaggeiro da lua" for sale, I couldn't say "no".

And here it is:the "Moonwalker" bluray discs made in Portugal.

This release is similar to the one of some european countries, and includes a special picture booklet inside.

This is just the latest addition - but not the last! - of the dvd/blurays selection in the Showroom, but ....THE HUNT CONTINUES!

MICHAEL JACKSON:THE EXPERIENCE FRANCE

 

Today the Showroom will explore an alternative format to collect, launched in the videogames market. The UMD cartridge is only playable on the Playstation's PSP. It comes with a small box (in the style of a DVD case, but obviously smaller). Not only games were produced by Sony, but also movies:infact, on the PSP consolle you can watch movies in the high definition coloured screen. The first UMD released for Michael is this "Number ones", the one you can see in the pictures. In 2009, then, Sony released the "This is it" movie too in this format, followed in 2013 by "Michael Jackson:The Experience", a welcome-back to the consolle games for the King of Pop, after the 1989 release of "Moonwalker". Each of this releases got several versions for each country...here you can see a brief selection of the 3 releases, some in multiple releases from different countries.

The Showroom this week presents a sample copy of the "We are the world" 12'' released in Japan. It comes with a sample sticker on the back, and a promo red label - you can watch here the differences between the commercial version and the promotional one - sorry, I couldn't take better pictures of that label.

Not a masterpiece, then. But like all the other japanese sampler pressings, an hard-to-find collectable!

 

 

 

 

THE WIZ ALL OVER THE WORLD!

Today's post shows you all the versions (in dvd and bluray only, so not considering the vhs tapes), released for the musical "THE WIZ" all over the world. Some countries changed the original title:sometimes, the translation is good (like the spanish versions entitled "EL MAGO"), sometimes got a totally different meaning:in Italy the title is not even translated, is changed in "I'm Magic", in Germany the musicanl is known like "Das Zauberhafte land" ("The magic land"). The selection of copies you see here is still not complete; there are some versions I still miss. And for the first time, I'll add to a collection post a "Most wanted" picture, with the brazilian version called "O Feiticeiro", really hard-to-find.

Here it is another item I'm proud to have found:the yellow vinyl (!!!) of the "18 greatest hits", released in Turkey only in this coloured version. I remember when I saw it the first timew, I was excited to see the darker colours in the sleeve, and I thought:this must be a "rare" country press. And infact, in the back sleeve I saw it was a turkish one. But then, when I pulled out the record...wow! Yellow vinyl!! My eyes can't believe it! And then...I purchased it. Of course.

By the way, this press is hard-to-find but not impossible. So if you still didn't get it, and you like it, don't surrender:the hunt must go on!

P.S. It's a shame I still miss the black vinyl version. I guess I have to solve this problem. So the hunt goes on for me too :-)

Among the obscure single releases in the entire Michael's career, this release of "This time around" got a particular relief. Scheduled to be released as a fourth album extract, the track went on radio only promotionally, and didn't got a true commercial release. A large number of remxies have been produced, and this is weird for a non-commercial single. "This time around" then got 3 different promo vinyl sets, and 2 cd releases:the most interesting, is the one you can see in the picture, and the one chosen as "the record of the week" by the Showroom. It contains 8 remixes of "This time around", and 3 additional mixes of "Earth song" (another unreleased single in U.S., not in Europe where it had a huge success).

Wow, when I started to work at this page, I didn't thought I'll got so much MJ fans following. Well, first of all I have to say thank to all of you for your messages, and for being here.

YOU MAKE ME FEEL I'M NOT ALONE!

I made so many posts that I actually don't remember if some of them are doubles right now... if randomly you'll see a double post, "please pardon me" (to say it like Michael in "Childhood" lyrics).

So....did I showed you the marbled coloured version of the "Shake your body" maxi single 12'' by the Jacksons?

Well, here it is! And in addition, you can see the common black version, coming from Canada too, of course. Both vinyls have the same catalogue number, and comes with a similar generic CBS "legs" sleeve; beware:the sleeve have to be "Made in canada", to get a complete item with original sleeve. US versions looks very similar, but a collector-maniac like me, wants ALWAYS a matching sleeve! And I guess a lot of you understand me!! :-)

The marbled vinyl is amazing, a must-have for every collector; so if you still didn't find your copy, my suggestion is right here right now:let the hunt continues and you'll get it one day! ;-)

Just to have 2 more copies of this Jacksons albums:"The Jacksons" and "Goin'places" got a reissue this year, on Epic/Legacy label. You can see the new Epic logo and the Legacy symbol on both labels and back covers.

Let me say you something:these kind of reissues are unnecessary. I'm expecting from Sony Music a little less laziness, and a better effort for ANY kind of reissue.

For example:coloured vinyls are nowadays very requested.

So, WHY they didn't make a red vinyl reissue for "Goin'places", and a blue vinyl one for "The Jacksons"? I mean, records like these would have a different appeal on the shelves. An appeal that records reissued on January, this year, will never have. I'm quite sure a lot of these copies will stay on the records shop shelves for a long long time, now. No surprises then, but again I say it:WE, THE FANS-COLLECTORS, ARE TIRED OF THIS SHAME. Sony have to spend a few minutes on planning DECENT releases:if people like me won't purchase something like that in the future, what they'll do?

I guess the Sony Music marketing department is TOTALLY unable to do the right job is payed for.
