Well, I really love this item:it's an "in-store play cd", that means
this is an advanced copy given to shops to let it play the days before
its release, and of course during the promotion of the album. The cd
they let you play and listen with headphones, exactly. It's a 2-cd set
that comes with a totally black artwork double fat case, with the title
on front and the tracklist on the back. Some copies include a little
booklet, exclusive for its size:it's smaller than the classic you can
find on every cd copy, and bigger than the one used for minidiscs set.
A similar release that comes from Canada, have the same artwork but the
sleeve background is white, and it has a thin 2-cd set case.

Look at this "Thriller" lp. It looks like the common dutch version,
isn't it. Well, it's not. This is a super rare "Club edition" released
(obviously) for Clubs use in Germany, and if you take a look on the
back...you can clearly see a different catalogue number, and the writing
"Club edition"!!! Beware, the different catalogue is ONLY on the
sleeve, the record inside is a classic dutch press, blue labeled, with a
dutch catalogue number!

Among the obscure releases all over the world, here we have a set of
korean best of - lp & cd format - that a lot of collectors consider
as an official release. In deed, at the time it was hard to determine
which press was official - and legally authorized - and which not. A lot
of releases from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan were officially licensed
by Epic records and released with minor companies, so this could be one
of that. By the way, the wonderful sleeve worth the purchase, even
though the lp looks more a professional release than the cd itself. The
set contains a selection of tracks from 2 Michael Jackson's album
("Thriller" and "Bad" - so no "Off the wall" or Jacksons tracks), for a
total of 12 tracks.

A wonderful double set of laser discs joins today the Showroom.
Both laserdiscs come from Japan, and they're the very first release of
"The Wiz" with a pink obi, and the "special price" reissue with a blue
obi, parft of the "EverGreen" collection released by Cicvideo.
Curiously, I think that the second release is rarer than the first
press. I often saw the pink obi version on auction sites, but never -
before my purchase - the blue one.

This week, the item(s) chosen for the prestigious "Record of the week"
place, are 3 papaersleeve cds sent to radio stations, to promote the
forthcoming (at the time) release of the "HIStory" album. All 3 cds have
a white background artwork, with the title "HIStory begins" on it in 3
different colours : blue, red and green.
The blue version contains
only 1 track (a special megamix of the hits included on the first
HIStory cd), the red one have 4 tracks (Rock with you, Beat it, Billie
Jean & Don't stop), while the green version is a truly "sampler"
album including the full content of the "HIStory" cd 1.
Each cd have a colour artwork matching the one on the sleeve, and all 3 report the writing "limited edition".
I can't say whcih one is the rarest, but the 'red' one with 4 tracks
seems the most difficult to find, and the 'green' one the most common.

Today's WELCOME TO THE SHOWROOM:
MOONWALKER ITALY PC GAME
FUTURA GAMES/KIXX
A relevant new item arrived today in the Showroom : it's an italian version of the "Moonwalker" game, released by FuturaGames in conjuction with the KIXX, exclusive release for pc, at the time.
It is housed in a large box (8'' tall and 6'' large) and it contains the Moonwalker game splitted on 2 floppy disks, as well as a little booklet with a brief story and instructions.
This is one of the rarest edition of the game "Moonwalker".
